Post Specification

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Assisting course instructor to carry out teaching in the area of Mathematics, Programming or other Science/Engineering disciplines;

2. Preparation of teaching materials/classes;

3. Conducting tutorial classes;

4. Grading assignments, project reports and test/exam papers;

5. Coordinating academic activities for students;

6. Undertaking other work as assigned by the supervisor(s).

Qualifications and Requirements:

1. A Bachelor degree, preferably a higher degree in Science/Engineering, earned overseas or with English as the major teaching language;

2. Good teaching and communication skills;

3. Fluency in both written and spoken English;

4. Good physical and mental health;

5. Spirit of team work and ability of working independently;

6. Willingness to take up other responsibilities as instructed by the supervisor(s).

Salary & Benefits

Salary will be competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Research Assistant Professor – Advanced Materials Laboratory (Ref. AC2019/017/01)

Laboratory Introduction

Advanced Materials Lab is led by Prof. Shiping Zhu, who is a Fellow of Royal Society of Canada (FRSC) and Fellow of Canadian Academy of Engineering (FCAE). There are two major research directions in our lab: smart materials and composite materials. Smart materials focus on materials that are responsive to outside stimulus, and can transform one type of energy to another. Composite materials focus on the hybridization of different materials with synergistic effect for energy and environmental applications.

Job Description

Applicants should have:

1.PhD degree related to chemistry, chemical engineering, materials, and any related major. Research experience in polymer and MOF materials is preferred. 

2.At least two years oversea postdoctoral research experience (negotiable if the candidate is outstanding).

3.Organizing capability in research, good communication skills in oral/written English and Chinese, and capability to assist in leading a small research team to conduct frontier academic research.

4.Good potential in classroom teaching, with the ability to present academic opinions clearly in English.

Laboratory Introduction

Marine Robotics Laboratory emphasizes on research topics including robot design, perception, control, energy management, etc. for marine environment. We are carrying out research projects, e.g. Key Project from NSFC-Shenzhen Fundamental Research Center, Shenzhen Robotics Discipline Development Project, etc. Dr. Huihuan Qian, the Lab Director, is currently Assistant Professor of School of Science and Engineering. He also serves as the Deputy Associate Director in State Joint Engineering Laboratory in Robotics and Intelligent Manufacturing.
